Abigail Cutter Joins Institute for Discipleship as Visiting Scholar

July 22, 2021 – Abigail Woolley Cutter has joined the Southwestern College faculty as a Visiting Scholar of the Institute for Discipleship.   Cutter, who was awarded her Ph.D. in religious studies from Southern Methodist University in May, will spend the next two years at the Winfield, Kan., college.  Each academic year, the Institute for Discipleship provides a $20,000 fellowship and housing to a new or near-completion PhD candidate in religion.  Selected from a pool of applicants, the Visiting Scholar teaches undergraduate courses, participates in campus ministry, assists with the Discipleship program and preaches/teaches with the Worship Outreach groups.  A native of Wichita, Cutter earned her Master of…continue reading →

Mohler-Seib to be Visiting Scholar at Southwestern College

Rev. Wendy Mohler-Seib has been selected as the Southwestern College visiting scholar for the 2019-2020 academic year. The Richard and Julia Wilke Institute for Discipleship at Southwestern College’s visiting scholar program began in 2006, and supports a person nearing the completion of their Ph.D. work in the field of religion. Mohler-Seib is the 10th visiting scholar in the program. Summit Youth Academy at Southwestern College deepens faith and broadens perspectives of youth

For seven days at the end of July, 36 rising high school juniors and seniors from around Kansas, Nebraska, Oklahoma, and as far away as Mexico attended the Summit Youth Academy on the campus of Southwestern College in Winfield, Kansas. Guidero Announced as 2015-2016 Visiting Scholar

The Institute for Discipleship is pleased to announce that Kirsten Guidero will be our visiting scholar for the 2015-2016 school year. Kirsten is a Ph.D. candidate from Marquette University. She received her B.A. from the University of Chicago where she graduated with general and departmental honors, and made the dean’s list each year.
