Matt Sigler Takes Over as Campus Minister

Matthew Sigler has been selected to be the campus minister for the 2014-15 school year at Southwestern College.  He takes over for Ashlee Alley who left SC for a position with the Great Plains Conference of the United Methodist Church. Sigler is in his second year at Southwestern College.  He spent last year teaching as a visiting scholar.  Prior to coming to SC, Sigler lived in Boston while attending Boston University as he studied for his Ph. New faculty join Philosophy & Religion department

Dr. Jacob L. Goodson received his Ph.D. from the University of Virginia in 2010.  He specializes in American philosophy, modern philosophy, and the philosophy of religion.  He writes on topics such as the ethics of baseball, the moral treatment of animals, and the philosophy of prayer and prophecy.  Goodson has an essay coming out this year titled "The Ethics of Counter-Insurgency in The Wire," which analyzes the characters of the popular HBO television series.  He enjoys discussing philosophical and theological issues with students, as well as watching the Chicago Cubs play baseball every…continue reading →

2012-2013 Visiting Scholar begins work at Southwestern

Kevin Minister is the new Institute for Discipleship Visiting Scholar in residence, and has begun his work at the college. Minster is working toward a Ph.D. in religious studies at Southern Methodist University. He was awarded the Schubert M. Ogden Fellowship for Academic Excellence in the Theology and has published in the New Interpreter’s Theological Companion to the Lectionary.
